Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Unitas mobile and web applications (the “Service”), provided by Munch Development, LLC (“Munch Development,” “we,” “us”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Unitas is a Catholic parish platform offering a public parish portal (Mass schedules, bulletins, events, RSVPs, media, giving links, announcements) and liturgy-team management tools (scheduling, reminders, substitutions, ministry rosters). Features available to you depend on your role and your Parish’s subscription tier.

2. Accounts

  • You must provide accurate information and keep it current.
  • You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for activity under your account.
  • You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction) to create an account.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or pose risk to the Service or other users.

3. Parish Customers & Roles

If you join a Parish on Unitas, your Parish Customer is the controller of the data you submit to it. Parish admins and ministry leaders can view, edit, and delete role-relevant data. Munch Development is not responsible for decisions made by your Parish Customer about its data.

4. Subscriptions & Billing

  • Paid plans (Core, Advanced, Diocese) are billed through Stripe on a recurring basis until canceled.
  • Fees are non-refundable except where required by law. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • We may change prices on renewal with at least 30 days’ notice to the billing contact.
  • Downgrading to Free may disable features (custom branding, custom builds, additional members or ministries above Free limits).

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to violate any law or third-party right.
  • Upload content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, hateful, sexually explicit, or harmful to minors.
  • Attempt to access another Parish’s data, reverse-engineer the Service, probe for vulnerabilities without written authorization, or interfere with operation (DoS, scraping at abusive rates, abuse of magic links or OTP).
  • Use the Service to send unsolicited bulk messages outside its intended ministry communication purpose.
  • Misrepresent your identity, role, or affiliation, or impersonate clergy or parish staff.

6. Your Content

You retain ownership of content you submit (bulletins, sermons, media, messages). You grant Munch Development a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, transcode, and display that content solely to operate the Service for you and your Parish. You represent you have the rights necessary to grant this license.

7. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third parties including Stripe (payments), Google and Apple (sign-in), Resend (email), Amazon S3 (Amazon Web Services) (media), and Sentry (error reporting). Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

8. Intellectual Property

Unitas, the Unitas name and logo, and all related software, designs, and documentation are owned by Munch Development, LLC. Except for the limited license to use the Service as described, no rights are granted to you.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ALL DATA WILL BE DELIVERED.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MUNCH DEVELOPMENT WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUES, DATA, OR GOODWILL. OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU OR YOUR PARISH PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AND (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS.

11. Indemnification

You will defend and indemnify Munch Development against claims arising from your content, your use of the Service in violation of these Terms, or your violation of law or third-party rights.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account from the app. We may suspend or terminate access for breach, non-payment, or to protect the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

13. Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated to Parish admins by email and posted here with a new effective date. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. The state and federal courts located in Orleans Parish, Louisiana have exclusive jurisdiction, except where applicable consumer-protection law provides otherwise.
